Americans And Social Media: 66% Of Online Adults Use Social Media To Stay In Touch With Friends And Family

AMERICANS AND SOCIAL MEDIA: As more people go online to connect with friends, family and co-workers, they are discovering the benefits of being connected. Of those users:
 
• 66% use social media to stay in touch with current friends and family members
 
• 50% want to connect with old friends they’ve lost touch with
 
• 14% want to connect around a shared hobby or interest
 
• 9% want to make new friends
 
• 5% want to read comments by public figures
 
• 3% are looking for potential romantic partners
