Stepping Up The Search: 73% Of All Americans Use Search Engines According To Pew

Search engine use is one of the most popular online activities, rivaled only by email, according to the Pew Internet & American Life Project.

In fact, 73% of all Americans use search engines. Here are some statistics worth noting:

  • On any given day, 59% of adults using the Internet use a search engine
  • 83% use Google; Yahoo is a distant second with 6% of search users
  • 91% of search engine users say they usually find the information they are seeking
  • 73% say the information they find is accurate and trustworthy
  • 55% say that the quality of search results has improved over time
  • 50% found an obscure piece of information they thought they would not be able to find
