What is an Experiential Learning Portfolio (ELP)?
Adult learners bring tremendous assets to the classroom through their personal and professional experience. The desire to learn and gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter brings the student to a higher standard of achievement. Strayer University recognizes the concept that learning is a lifelong activity and that many life learning experiences have a value equivalent to college-level coursework.
Strayer University Policies Governing the Granting of Credit
Strayer University recognizes that you may have earned college-level knowledge through learning you have done outside of this University. In order for this learning to be evaluated for possible college-level credit, students should request an evaluation of their previous experience immediately following acceptance into the University to avoid possible duplication of courses.
Experiential Learning Assessment Program
Sometimes the learning you have done academically, professionally, or personally doesn't come with a transcript or any other form of documentation. This program allows you to demonstrate what you have learned so that we may determine whether you are eligible for academic credit.

As an institution dedicated to making earning a degree possible for working adult students, Strayer University recognizes the value of skills, training, and certifications you have earned as you have worked to advance your career.
The certification or license you have earned as part of your professional or personal work may also qualify you for academic credit.
