Certifications and Licenses
Through your professional or personal work, you may have earned a certification or license, demonstrating that you already recognize the benefits of attaining a specialized skill set in order to further your career. But, did you know that these skills may have provided you with the equivalent of college-level credit? Read on to learn how the credentials you obtained can help you earn your degree at Strayer University quickly.
How do I request credit for certifications or licenses that I hold?
Submit a copy of the license or certificate provided by the granting organization to your admissions officer. He/she will send it to Strayer University’s Transcript Evaluation Center for review. You will receive a copy of your evaluation in the mail. You may also obtain a copy at the campus at anytime through the Admissions or Academic Offices, or you may view it through your Online Academic Record.
If a license or certificate has not been previously reviewed by the American Council of Education (ACE) or, in a few cases, by Strayer University directly, you will be asked to apply for credit through Strayer University’s Experiential Learning Portfolio process.
Policies and procedures governing granting of credit for Certifications and Licenses
Evaluation of licenses and certifications is conducted by the Transcript Evaluation Center in accordance with University policy. Credit granted does not apply toward Strayer University residency requirements. Please click here for the residency requirements and maximum number of prior learning credits allowed for your program.
As appropriate, we follow recommendations of the American Council of Education (ACE) for the granting of credit.
