Commencement Attire: Master's Degree Candidates
The gown worn by a master's degree candidate has oblong sleeves, open at the wrist. The sleeve base hangs down in the traditional manner. The rear part of its oblong shape is square cut, and the front part has an arc cut away.
Master's degree candidates are also distinguishable by the hood that they wear. Hoods are worn around the neck, draping down the back of the graduate, with colors signifying the area of study and the colors of the University. The base color of the hood is always black. The hood for master degree candidates is three and one-half feet long. The hoods are lined with the official colors of the University. Strayer University’s official school colors are garnet and tan. The color of the three inch trimming in velvet signifies the area of study of the graduate.
The cap worn by master's degree candidates is black and made of mortarboard. A long tassel is to be fastened to the middle point of the top of the cap.
