CRJ 410-Corrections

Prerequisite: CRJ 100 and CRJ 105 and CRJ180

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the field ofcorrections. It explores agencies, practices, and polices relevant toprisons, jails, and probation and parole. Students examine bothhistoric and contemporary punishment policies in the United States,sentencing structures; socio-political economic conditions thatinfluence disparate sentencing and confinement; facility designs andhow they correlate with inmate management philosophies; the legalaspects of the care, custody and control of inmates; the constitutionalrights and civil liberties of inmates; security operations, and inmatetreatment services.
