EDU 555-K-12: Curriculum Design and Development

Incorporates in-depth examination of the theory and practice of the design, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula. It encompasses the development of a K-12 curriculum involving a systematic approach to identifying learners' needs, establishing goals and objectives, and selecting educational strategies to meet those needs. Students explore the impact of educational research on curriculum plans and development. Emphasis will be placed on examination of curriculum standards, state and national influences, diversity issues, and curriculum assessments.
