POL 110-U.S. Government

This course serves as an introduction to American government andpolitics. It is designed to familiarize students with the origins andevolution of American national government, its basic institutions andits fundamental decision making processes with regard to domesticand foreign policy. It covers the basic terms and facts relating togovernment, the functions and development of the U.S. branches ofgovernment, including the role of parties and interest groups, andthe value preferences within American society which affect theformation of public policy. It also develops a basic understanding ofhow federal, state and local governments interact in the U.S. politicalsystem.
