Exit Counseling
Before graduating, withdrawing, or dropping below 1/2 time enrollment, federal student loan borrowers are required to complete exit counseling. Exit counseling will provide you with valuable information about your rights and responsibilities as a student borrower. Please choose the counseling that is most appropriate for you. The sessions should take 20-30 minutes.
If you are unsure which of the following options pertains to you, please contact your business office or the National Student Loan Data Systems (NSLDS) at www.nslds.ed.gov, or by calling 1-800-4-FED-AID, 1-800-433-3243.
- If you borrowed money from Direct Loans:

- Under ”Exit Counseling”, hit ”Go” and follow the instructions.
- If you borrowed loans from any other lender, please follow these instructions:
- If you borrowed Stafford loans only, click here.
- Print the confirmation page for your records.
- If you borrowed Stafford and Grad PLUS loans, click here.
- Print the confirmation page for your records.
- To access these sessions directly, click here and follow these instructions.
- Under “Exit Counseling”, select “Stafford Exit” or “Stafford and Grad PLUS combined exit,” depending on the type of loans you have.
- For Select a U.S. State, choose “District of Columbia” and hit Continue.
- For Select U.S. School, choose “Strayer University – Washington, DC” and hit Continue.
- Answer the questions and complete the student form.
- Print the confirmation page for your records.
