The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) recognizes by invitation, the academic success of high-achieving freshmen and sophomore undergraduate students.

Membership Requirements

Undergraduate students

  • Completed a minimum of 18 undergraduate credit hours to a maximum of 90 undergraduate credit hours, with transfer credits included
  • Completed at least one course at Strayer University
  • A minimum of 3.40 GPA

National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Strayer University Commencement

The member may wear the honor cord or honor medallion at commencement to distinguish his/her academic excellence. The honor item may be purchased directly from the Honor Society at www.nscs.org.

Q: How can I join NSCS?
A: NSCS membership is open by invitation only. You are only able to join during your first and second years of college. Graduate students do not qualify.

Q: When are invitations sent?
A: Invitations are sent after the Spring and Fall quarters.

Q: Am I eligible to become a member of NSCS?
A: You are eligible if you completed at least one course at Strayer University; completed a minimum of 18 credit hours to a maximum of 90 credit hours, with transfer credits included; and hold a minimum of 3.40 GPA.

Q: If I have declined a previous invitation, will I be invited again?
A: Students who decline membership twice are not invited again.

Q: How can I order honor items?
A: Honor items can be ordered directly from the society’s web page.

Q: May I wear honor items at commencement?
A: Honor items may be worn at commencement to distinguish academic excellence.

Q: How do I know if I am a member of NSCS?
A: Once the application process is completed, NSCS will mail information directly to you. You will then have access to the NSCS website, the chapter page, and the chapter’s Facebook page.

Q: Are scholarships available?
A: Scholarship is one of NSCS’ core values. To recognize and celebrate the academic achievements of our members and to defray the costs of education, NSCS offers more in undergraduate scholarship dollars to its members than any other honor society nationwide. As an NSCS member, you will receive alerts every time a new scholarship is posted.
