Once you have applied to Strayer University, you should then submit an application for VA Benefits.

You may choose to send your VA Benefits application directly to Strayer University, mail your application directly to the VA, or apply online.

To apply with the VA, you will need to complete and submit one of the following forms:

  • 22-1990 – Application for Educational Benefits form
  • 22-1995 – Request for Change of Program or Place of Training form
  • 22-5490 – Application for Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance form
  • 22-5495 – Request for Change of Program or Place of Training for Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance form

You can download these forms from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Web site at http://www.va.gov/vaforms.

The following documentation must accompany your application:

  • For veterans: Certified copy of DD-214 (discharge papers)
  • For dependents: Certificate of Eligibility
  • For reservists: Copy of NOBE (Notice of Basic Eligibility)

It takes approximately 10-12 weeks to process applications. Please wait until 60 days have passed from the time you have submitted your application to inquire about your status.
