At Strayer University, we believe you deserve academic credit for your life and work experience, in addition to your previous college experience and equivalency exams.
To determine credit for life and work experience, we use the procedures of the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) to confirm that your experience is comparable to the content of a specific course and to grant a certain number of transfer credits. This means you can move that much faster along the path to completing your degree.
The following tools let us evaluate the awarding of transfer credit:
CLEP
The College Level Examination Program enables students to earn credit in certain areas of study through examination. Strayer University is an open test site for CLEP testing.
DANTES
Strayer University accepts Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support test scores baced on ACE (American Council on Education) recommendations.
ACE
Credits earned through military experience and registered through the American Council of Education may be evaluated for possible transfer credit.
SMART and AARTS Transcripts
Strayer University will also evaluate SMART and AARTS transcripts for possible transfer credit.
Community College
Your credits from an accredited, articulated Community College may be fully transferable. Find out more.
Previous Education
Students who have attended institutions that are not regionally accredited may be able to transfer credit upon evaluation of their transcripts.
Work/Life Experience
Undergraduate students may be able to receive credit for their work or life experience; more information on this process is available through your Admissions Officer or Academic Advisor.
Challenge Exams
Students may take challenge exams for courses that do not have a corresponding CLEP exam.
