Marquis Perryman Recognized for Professional Excellence, Community Leadership
ATLANTA – May 16, 2013 – Strayer University is pleased to announce that Marquis Perryman of Alpharetta, Ga., has been named the Outstanding Alumni Award winner. Perryman will receive his award on Saturday, May 18, at Strayer University’s Atlanta, Ga., regional commencement ceremony held at the Georgia Dome.
The first to graduate from college in his family, Perryman earned a bachelor of science degree in information systems from Strayer University in 2011. His goals were to be a role model for his three children and gain a high-level understanding of how computer networking systems function. Since graduating, Perryman has been promoted as a product analyst and project leader for Global Payments, a company based in Sandy Springs, Ga., that processes electronic payments for individuals and multinational corporations. He is responsible for ensuring the security of clients’ credit card and other sensitive data by monitoring networks and removing unsafe cipher encryptions. Perryman also oversees compliance assignments, ensuring that all networks used to process client data comply with security requirements.
“Everything I do is driven by the desire for excellence and a commitment to myself, my team and my family,” said Perryman. “Whether it is earning a degree in my field or reaching a new level in my profession, I am always in pursuit of my best. Since obtaining my degree from Strayer University, I have a unique technical background that is rare on my team. It enables me to be better equipped and lead projects of all sizes.”
The Outstanding Alumni Award recognizes a highly accomplished Strayer University
graduate who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in his or her professional, public and personal life since graduating from Strayer University. Perryman facilitates donation drives and volunteers in various youth leadership roles, including working with 5th graders transitioning to middle school at his local church.
Perryman has held various positions in his 13 years at Global Payments and has been the recipient of multiple awards. In 2006, he earned the Circle of Excellence Award and, in 2013, he earned the Commitment and Accountability Award, which recognize his professionalism and dedication to his work.
Perryman will join nearly 1,200 students at the Atlanta regional commencement ceremony, where Anthony Amey, Emmy-award winning weekend sports anchor and reporter at ABC affiliate WSB-TV, will deliver the commencement address.
Celebrating more than 120 years since its founding in Baltimore in 1892, Strayer University offers relevant and rigorous academic programs to working adults, first-generation college students and others who often do not have access to higher education, preparing them for success in today’s competitive job market.
