Doors Open for D.C. Graduate

July 9, 2012

Brian Markowski (BSCN '01, MSIS '12) became eligible for two promotions shortly after enrolling with Strayer University. "My decision to return to the classroom helped show my employer that I am dedicated to moving forward in my career," Markowski says.

Markowski now uses the skills he has gained from Strayer University to help him in his role as a senior principal network engineer for CACI Inc.-Federal, where he has received several awards for his outstanding customer service. In this position, he performs system engineering and fault diagnostics on wide-area network issues.

In recognition of his academic and professional excellence, Markowski was presented with the Outstanding Graduate Student award at the regional commencement ceremony in Washington, D.C., on June 23. The award recognizes a distinguished graduate student who maintained a 4.0 grade point average and who has made positive contributions to the local community.

Markowski previously served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, where he was responsible for supporting the squadron’s telecommunication services in the U.S. and abroad. Markowski is also a member of the local Neighborhood Watch program, and has been organizing annual food drives for 12 years.
