Outstanding Grad Will Use Degree to Get Ahead in Career
May 18, 2012
Shaquita Anderson (MBA '12) decided that if she wanted to get ahead in the workplace, she would need to earn a master’s degree. "I knew I needed to further my education, even if it meant sacrificing time with my family," Anderson recalls.
"I had to give up spending most of my weekends with my son so that I could study. Although it was a challenge, I knew this was an important step in making a better life for the two of us," she says.
In recognition of her perseverance in earning an MBA, Anderson was named the Outstanding Graduate Student Award winner during Strayer University's regional commencement ceremony on May 12 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The award recognizes a graduate student who maintained a 4.0 grade point average and who has made positive contributions to the local community.
In addition to earning a master’s degree from Strayer University, Anderson obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Grambling State University in Louisiana.
