Valedictorian Driven to Further Education and Career

Although Mary Bullock (BSCJ ’13) has been interested in the field of accounting since she was 15 years old, she recently gained a growing interest in cyber investigation. “My college education equipped me with the tools needed to apply my newfound passion for computer security and forensics, further augmenting my 35-year career in accounting,” Bullock says. “In addition, my clients are now equipped with new tools to better secure their data.”
In addition to excelling in her career, Bullock was able to maintain a 4.0 grade point average throughout her academic journey. In recognition of Bullock’s academic success, she earned the valedictorian honors at Strayer University’s regional commencement ceremony at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. During the ceremony, Bullock addressed more than 1,400 graduates and their guests.
A resident of Lovettsville, Va., Bullock holds many computer security related certification and applies more than three decades of accounting experience to her profession as owner of MB Accounting Service, a provider of accounting and tax services for individuals and business owners. Since 1995, Bullock has also served as vice president and co-owner of Bull’s Eye Restoration Inc., an organization dedicated to restoring historic homes in Virginia.
Outside of work, Bullock is a member of the Lovettsville Historical Society, the National Association of Tax Professionals and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. An avid figure skating competitor, Bullock is also a two-time champion in U.S. Figure Skating Adult Nationals and a champion in the ISU Adult Figure Skating competitions.
