The Post 9/11 GI Bill is an education benefit program for individuals who served on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. Students were eligible to use this benefit for study beginning August 1, 2009.
Chapter 33
Under Chapter 33, the benefits you receive are determined by a number of factors, including the:
- Length of your qualifying active duty service
- Location of your campus
- Way you take your courses,
- "Rate of pursuit"
Contact the VA at www.gibill.va.gov for more information about the program or to determine your eligibility. Please contact us to better understand how your enrollment at Strayer University may impact your level of benefits.
Under the Post 9/11 GI Bill, taking on-campus courses is necessary to receive a housing stipend. If you live near one of our many campus locations, Strayer University can offer you that opportunity!
Active duty military personnel who are eligible for Chapter 33 benefits and have exhausted all tuition assistance (TA) in a given year may use their VA benefits to cover the cost of tuition and fees. You must notify the Certifying Official of your home campus for any classes you would like certified for VA education benefits.
The Yellow Ribbon Program and Scholarship
Strayer University is proud to demonstrate its commitment to our nation's veterans by participating fully in the Yellow Ribbon Program. All veterans eligible for the program (as determined by the VA) will receive a Yellow Ribbon Scholarship.
That scholarship, together with matching funds from the VA, will cover all tuition and fee expenses at Strayer University that are not covered by your Chapter 33 benefits. That means that the combination of financial support from Strayer University's Yellow Ribbon Scholarship and from the VA will cover the full cost of tuition and fees for Strayer University programs in any state.
Strayer University's participation in the Yellow Ribbon program is determined annually. Should Strayer University cease participation in the Yellow Ribbon program, eligible Veterans will continue to receive other benefits under the Post 9/11 GI Bill.
