College Scholarships and Grants

Strayer University offers three scholarships for the summer recruiting term for new and readmit students who qualify.  The scholarships are effective as of the Summer 2012 term and are only applicable to New or Readmit students who are finalizing for the Summer 2012 term.

Experienced Student Assistance Scholarship
Value: $1,000
Requirements:

  1. Be a New or Readmit student registering for the Summer 2012 term1
  2. NEW STUDENTS: Have 1 to 26 transfer credits from a Strayer acceptable University
  3. READMIT STUDENTS: Have 1 to 26 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.55 or higher
  4. Meet all the Strayer University Admissions requirements
  5. Be in good financial standing with the University ($0 balance)
  6. Register for 2 or more courses in any Associate or Bachelor’s program2

The scholarship will be officially awarded once transfer credit is posted to the student’s record (if applicable) and will be applied as a reduction to tuition4.  Tuition will be reduced in week eight (8) of class, or after the last date to drop without academic penalty as long as the student is still attending both courses.  The communication (and awarding) of the scholarship will be done via the Campus Director, who reviews the student’s admission file, then provides the scholarship letter. Thus, it is important to review the recipient’s admission file clearly and check the unofficial transcript in order to appropriately award the scholarship.

 

Experienced Student Completion Scholarship
Value: $1,000 per term up to a maximum of $17,000 over 17 terms to assist students with the completion of a Bachelor’s or an Associate’s degree.
Requirements:

  1. Be a New or Readmit student registering for the Summer 2012 term1
  2. NEW STUDENTS: Have at least 27 transfer credits from a Strayer acceptable University
  3. READMIT STUDENTS: Have at least 27 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.55 or higher
  4. Meet all the Strayer University Admissions requirements
  5. Be in good financial standing with the University ($0 balance)
  6. Use the scholarship within 22 terms from the first term of enrollment
  7. Complete 2 or more courses during each award term in any Associate or Bachelor’s program2

The scholarship will be officially awarded once transfer credit is posted to the student’s record (if applicable) and will be applied as a reduction to tuition at a rate of $1,000 per term4.  Tuition will be reduced in week eight (8) of class, or after the last date to drop without academic penalty as long as the student is still attending both courses.   Two courses must be completed each term, regardless of grade earned, in order to receive the scholarship for that term.  If two courses are not completed, the scholarship will be revoked for that term but will still available in subsequent terms, up to the maximum timeframe of 22 terms.  The scholarship will remain in effect for as many terms as it takes the student to complete the degree program, up to a maximum of 22 terms, as long as the student continues to meet eligibility requirements.  The scholarship represents a maximum award value of $17,000 over 17 terms.  The scholarship will expire after 22 terms from the date of original enrollment.  The communication and awarding of the Scholarship will be done via the Campus Director, who will review the student’s file and provide the scholarship letter.

 

Graduate Scholarship
Value: $5,000 applied $1,000 per term over five terms
Requirements:

  1. Be a New or Readmit graduate student registering for the Summer 2012 term1
  2. NEW STUDENTS: Have a previously completed Strayer Bachelor’s or Strayer Graduate Degree OR If not a Strayer graduate: meet the minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 through one of the following3
    1. A completed Bachelor’s or graduate degree from a Strayer acceptable University
                                                                            OR
    2. Three transferable graduate courses from a Strayer acceptable University when a graduate degree has not been completed.
  3. READMIT STUDENTS: Have a current cumulative Strayer GPA of 3.0 or higher
  4. Meet all the Strayer University Admissions requirements
  5. Be in good financial standing with the University ($0 balance)
  6. Use the scholarship within 8 terms from the first term of enrollment
  7. Complete  1 or more courses in any Master’s program2

The scholarship will be officially awarded at a rate of $1,000 per term for 5 terms upon successful registration into a Master’s Program and satisfaction of the University’s admission requirements. The scholarship will be applied as a reduction to tuition4 at a rate of $1,000 per term4. Tuition will be reduced in week eight (8) of class, or after the last date to drop without academic penalty as long as the student is still attending. The availability of the scholarship funds will expire after 8 terms from date of original enrollment. The communication and awarding of the Scholarship will be done via the Campus Director who will review the student’s file and provide the scholarship letter.

 

1Students must request scholarship consideration and submit proof of eligibility within 30 days from the start of classes.  In all cases, the scholarship grant is at Strayer’s discretion.
2If a student drops below the 2 courses (undergraduate program) or withdraws completely, the scholarship will be withdrawn for that term.
3Students enrolling in the Jack Welch Management Institute Executive MBA program require at least a 3.25 undergraduate GPA OR must have two transferrable graduate courses with cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, when a graduate degree has not been completed.
4For students whose tuition is billed to a third-party sponsor (employer, active duty military or Veteran Administration), the scholarship is applied first to reduce tuition charges and then the sponsor is billed the net tuition amount (to the extent tuition benefits are available).
5Students that either reside in the State of Ohio, or reside outside Ohio but enroll at an Ohio campus must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
