School of Business

Dr. Wendy Howard

Dean of the School of Business

As a former public accountant, corporate controller, strategic manager and consultant, I’ve been around the working world for a while. And as a holder of an MBA degree, I understand the need to enroll in a degree program that will equip you with timely, relevant education that can be applied in the workplace, making you more successful in your career. At the School of Business, we have assembled renowned faculty who have not only earned the necessary academic credentials, but are practitioners and leaders in their fields. They possess current, relevant knowledge and hands-on experience earned in the trenches. Our faculty bring real-world experience to the classroom and demonstrate applications of the concepts to the business environment. They have a great passion for what they do, are eager to help students succeed, and make themselves available to students when needed.

Faculty are armed with a curriculum that is continually refined to focus on trends in business and place significant emphasis on bridging theory with practical application in the workplace. They provide situations and cases that allow experiential learning and practice. Further, our business courses emphasize effective writing and communication skills—key competencies to help you progress in your career.

We develop our courses and curriculum to address the global context of business today, and with the goal of developing skills that will translate to global markets. Several of our courses highlight innovation, and all of them leverage integrated technology for delivery. For example, enroll in Marketing 100 to learn about consumer engagement through interactive concepts, videos, and hands-on activities. Or take Business 302 Management Concepts, to learn the key management principles of business, including cultural and legal considerations. Nontraditional tools such as online activities and interactive quizzes help to reinforce the learning while keeping you engaged.

We also apply key business principles and processes to our own structure. We have developed and implemented a process to assess program and learning outcomes, and we measure ourselves against our goals.

Once you earn your degree, you’ll join alumni who work for a wide variety of respected global corporations, public-sector agencies, and non-profit organizations. These graduates express their appreciation for the diversity of our faculty and students and the exposure it gives them to varying viewpoints.
