VA reimbursement varies depending on whether you attend classes full time or less than full time.

Please see the charts below to learn how full-time and part-time statuses are determined.

Undergraduate

1 undergraduate (11 week term) less 1/2 time
2 undergraduate (11 week term) 1/2 time
3 undergraduate (11 week term) full time
1 undergraduate (mini 5 week term) 3/4 time
1 undergraduate (1st mini 5 week term) +
1 undergraduate (2nd mini 5 week term)
3/4 time
1 undergraduate (1st mini 5 week term) +
1 undergraduate (2nd mini 5 week term) +
1 undergraduate (11 week term)
full time

PLEASE NOTE

  • 2 undergraduate (11-week term) + 1 undergraduate (1st mini 5-week term) – during the time the student is enrolled in all three classes, the VA will consider the student full-time; when the mini-session ends, the VA will consider the student as 1/2 for the remainder of the term.
  • 2 undergraduate (11-week term) + 1 undergraduate (2nd mini 5-week term) – for the start of the quarter, the VA will consider the student as 1/2 time until the 2nd mini session begins; then the VA will consider the student full-time.

Graduate

1 graduate (11 week term) 1/2 time
2 graduate (11 week term) full time
1 graduate + 1 undergraduate prerequisite 3/4 time
2 undergraduate prerequisites 1/2 time

Students receive educational checks from the VA on a monthly basis. Renewals are not automatic, and you should verify enrollment each month through the WAVE system at https://www.gibill.va.gov/wave/default.cfm or call the VA at 1-877-823-2378.
