Meet some of the Alexandria Faculty

Dr. Hammad Elbedour

Campus Dean of Loudoun

As Associate Campus Dean for the Business School of Management and Computer Information Systems, Dr. Hammad Elbedour puts his education and experience to good use. After earning his PhD in organizational management and leadership from the University of Phoenix, and master’s degree in computer science from the University of Minnesota, he went to work as a project manager, IT consultant, and project leader for two major software companies in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He then served as a program director for six years at a private school in Alexandria, all before joining the Strayer University family as a full-time faculty member.

Dr. Elbedour has published and co-authored two major articles with the International School of Psychology and, always, has a new one in the works.

Dr. Agboli-Esedebe

Campus Dean

Dr. Agboli-Esedebe holds a bachelor's degree in mass communications and a master's degree in international law and diplomacy, both from the University of Lagos, in Nigeria, and a PhD from Howard University in Washington, D.C. In December 2012, Dr. Agboli-Esedebe completed her master’s degree in business administration from Strayer University and, that same year, was presented with the Strayer University Faculty Award of Excellence at the 120th Annual Commencement Ceremonies in Norfolk, Virginia. We congratulate her on such an esteemed accomplishment.

Prior to joining Strayer University in 2004, Dr. Agboli-Esedebe worked as the director of quality control for the Real Estate Resource Group and as an assistant editor for the Mediterranean Quarterly in Washington, D.C. She was also a teaching associate for Howard University and a part-time faculty member of The George Washington University’s undergraduate honors program.

Dr. Amanda Manners

Faculty

Dr. Manners holds a doctorate in organizational leadership, a master's degree in production and operations management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University. She has worked in the automotive, defense, and aerospace industries as a product development engineer. She has also held the positions of campus dean and director of academic affairs within higher education.

Dr. Manners is also a proud member of Cambridge Who's Who. Most important, she's a mother of three wonderful young boys.

Reed Harney

For nine years, Professor Harney worked on the command and control segment of the Tomahawk cruise missile. What helped him succeed? An extensive knowledge of math – knowledge that Strayer Alexandria, Arlington, and online Math 090 students have been benefiting from since 2012.

Professor Harney holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education and a master’s degree in mathematics, both from Ohio State University. He’s been a high school teacher for the Prince William County Public Schools and a part-time faculty member for Northern Virginia Community College and ECPI University teaching mathematics. And he has worked as a Systems Engineer for contractors such as Lockheed-Martin, Tiburon Systems, and ManTech International, supporting the U.S.  Department of Defense in programs for the U.S. Navy and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.

Ahmad Zia Rawish

Associate Dean

It’s been almost twenty years since Mr. Rawish began teaching at Strayer University, where he now serves as our Associate Dean. Mr. Rawish possesses a bachelor’s degree in economics and a double master’s degree in national economic planning and finance from Kabul University, where he taught economics, finance, and mathematics classes for more than five years, and an M.A. in economics from the University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC), which he earned on a full scholarship. Professor Rawish has completed all classes for his master’s degree in business administration and his Doctor of Business Administration in Finance. He is currently working on his dissertation, which he plans to complete in June 2014.

Mr. Rawish has served as a Finance Officer with the United Nations and Senior Accountant/Assistant Finance Officer, and, since 1997, has been an independent researcher of the financial markets. But, for him, it’s not all economics and finance. Mr. Rawish’s greatest wish is well-being for all nations and humanity.

Shaun M. Koenig, Esquire

Faculty

Mr. Koenig served as the Director of Intellectual Property and Agreement Management at the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute, and as General Counsel and Director of Compliance for several health care and technology companies, where he was responsible for providing advice on a wide variety of topics including HIPAA issues, the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the negotiation of multimillion-dollar international contracts for a variety of services and products. All of this serves him well as he guides our students through a variety of legal and business courses.

He is a graduate of the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where he studied history and political science, as well as the University of Baltimore, where he completed a joint Juris Doctorate and a master’s in business administration. In his spare time, Mr. Koenig enjoys reading, golfing, and training for his next 5K.
