For Danté Washington, business means commitment. Sacrifice. Discipline. Grit. All in a day's work for Danté. Currently pursuing his MBA through the Jack Welch Management Institute (JWMI), Danté knows all about the business of business. And the business of success.
His Biggest Challenge Yet
Over the past 15 years, Danté worked at Brookes Publishing, Morgan Stanley, and M&T Bank. He recently accepted a position with the U.S. Department of Defense. Juggling the responsibilities of work with the demands of advancing his career is his biggest challenge yet. That’s where Strayer comes in.
Solving the Business Puzzle
“You have to have a great level of discipline to complete your education and maintain a demanding career,” Danté says. “It’s a level that’s buried deep inside you. Honestly, not everyone can reach that level. It’s an amazingly gratifying feeling for those that do.” Diversification helps Danté with this juggling act. His goal: acquiring as many different perspectives on 21st-century business as he can. He thinks of an MBA as a puzzle game. “Each class provides a different piece to the puzzle,” he says. “Jack Welch teaches us that winning in business is not one-dimensional. We should be extremely good at a variety of disciplines to manage internal and external challenges.”
Partners in Success
Strayer’s support makes Danté’s current educational journey with JWMI’s online classes easier. “Strayer is committed to partnering with you to succeed,” he says. One helpful faculty member who stands out: Lucy from the White Marsh campus near Baltimore, Maryland. “Lucy helped me navigate a variety of resources to complete my undergraduate degree,” he remembers. “I will never forget all she did to assist me.” Danté praises JWMI as one of the best ways to master the insights of business. “It has a great reputation in the business community,” Danté says.
Smart, Strategic, Focused
Danté commits to Strayer, to JWMI, and to himself. “Life is full of challenges,” he says. “All I can do is view every obstacle like a boxing match and take it one round at a time. My goal is to always be smart, strategic, and focused.” Learn more about Strayer University and how you can achieve your educational goals.
