Each month, we like to highlight special Strayer students who are making the most of their education. Just like you, they’ve faced down challenges and quelled doubts, and now they’re reaping the rewards of their hard work and dedication. So, without further ado, here are our students! Jason Sanders MBA 2016 As a technical support senior manager for Verizon Wireless, Jason wanted a degree that would enhance his overall business skills and also give him the leadership skills to help develop his team. He applies classroom lessons to create career development workshops for his technical support team, assisting more than 40 employees with career progression. He also helped lead his department to a top five finish out of 22 call centers in the country for outstanding customer service. “It’s important to make sure my team has the right tools and skills required to ensure they are delivering an optimal customer service experience. I now know how to provide them with the resources and leadership they need to do well in their jobs, and to progress within the company.” For his work both in and out of the classroom, Jason was just named Strayer University’s Outstanding Graduate at the Atlanta commencement ceremony on May 14. Marla Williams Master of Education 2015 With more than 15 years of experience in training and coaching adults as the Operation Outreach coordinator for the Wounded Warrior Project, Marla was more than prepared for the challenge of earning Strayer University’s Master of Education in adult education. Still, she was surprised at how much there was to learn. “My degree program helped me further understand the depths of how adults learn and how to tailor trainings into an engaging experience so the learner can apply the course material,” says Marla. With the Wounded Warrior Project, Marla designed a training program to teach more than 600 employees how to check in with veterans, determine their needs and provide them with critical services. Marla is also a certified life and career coach and co-founder of Truth Speaks Coaching, LLC, specializing in life skills training solution services such as coaching, facilitation and material development. Marla was just named Strayer University’s Outstanding Alumna at the Atlanta commencement ceremony on May 14.
