Strayer University and Steve Harvey have joined forces to change the way people think about success and illustrate that “behind every success story are others helping to make it happen.” For Strayer University students, the people behind your story are the Student Services Coaches : a team of dedicated professionals whose primary goal is to make sure you have everything you need to achieve your goals as a Strayer University student and beyond. Today, we’d like to introduce you to Student Services Coach Atavia Izzard.
“If it’s [going back to school] something you truly want to do, know that you don’t have to do it on your own.”
Atavia Izzard received her BA from Clark Atlanta University and MBA from Strayer University. Atavia decided it was time for a change of scenery and moved to Washington, D.C., where she was offered a position in Student Academic Services. In this role, she helps Strayer students set educational, career and life goals; connect with tutors; create individualized classroom and learning success tips; and recommend career activities for further professional development, among offering other support and counsel. In addition to coaching, Atavia is a regular contributor to her community and has a very strong passion for people. She believes that no one person can go through life’s journey without guidance from another person.
IN HER OWN WORDS...

To be able to guide a student, to be able to see a student at graduation, to be able to say to a student “keep going, you can do it”. I love it, and to be able to get that instant gratification when you hear on the other end of the phone, or maybe face to face, “it was because of you that I was able to succeed.
