For Strayer University President Brian Jones, students are at the forefront of every decision he makes. In order to deliver the best possible educational experience, President Jones wanted a way to connect with Strayer students in a direct and clear way.

His solution was to create a President’s Student Council composed of high-achieving students from various academic disciplines. Currently, the 12 students who sit on the Council have increased the communication between students and the President’s Office and have also participated in academic pilot programs, providing critical feedback to President Jones on these new initiatives.

Council seats are held for one year, with the current inaugural council ending their term on the last day of Summer Quarter. Council members must be nominated by a professor or staff member, be in good academic standing, and write an essay on why they wish to become a council member.

In conjunction with the academically-based President’s Student Council, the geographically-based Student Advisory Boards now report directly to the Office of the President.

The SAB consists of a student representative from each of the geographic campus locations and online student body. Representatives serve as a conduit between students and campus leadership, in addition to the President’s Office. The Student Advisory Board will also be asked to play an important role as participants in academic pilot programs, providing feedback to university staff and faculty.
