The Society for Human Resource Management
The student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) provides its members education and information services, conferences and seminars, government and media representation, and publications that equip current and future human resource professionals to become leaders and decision-makers within their organizations.
The National Security Agency’s Committee on National Security Systems
The National Security Agency’s (NSA) Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) has certified that Strayer University’s security curriculum has been reviewed by the Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation Review Committee (IACE) and determined that it meets national training standards for information systems security professionals and system administrators, NSTISSI No. 4011and 4013.
The Teacher Education Accreditation Council
The University’s Master of Education in Teacher Education was accredited in June 2013 for seven years (until June 2020) by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). Brian W. Jones, President, Strayer University.
Brian W. Jones
President, Strayer University
Brian W. Jones was appointed Strayer University's 15th president in 2015. He joined the university as its general counsel in 2012 and later spent a year working as part of the founding team of Strayer@Work, a business unit focused on providing customized skills development and employer-funded degree programs to corporate clients.
Immediately prior to joining Strayer University, Brian co-founded and served as president of Latimer Education, Inc., an early stage venture-backed education company partnering with an historically black college to provide online postsecondary education solutions to African American working adults. He previously served for four years as the U.S. Department of Education's general counsel, a Senate-confirmed presidential appointment in the administration of President George W. Bush. He has experience across sectors, having served in senior leadership roles in the business, education, and non-profit sectors, and in state and federal government.
President Jones currently chairs the board of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools and serves on the board of directors of College Loan Corporation. He previously served as chair of the D.C. Public Charter School Board (PCSB), the sole authorizer of public charter schools in the nation’s capital.
In March 2016, Jones was selected for the Pahara-Aspen Fellowship, a program of the Aspen Institute that seeks to strengthen and sustain diverse, high potential leaders who are reimagining public education. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law and a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University.
