Test into credits you can transfer toward your Strayer degree
You may have previous experience in a subject required for your degree. If so, show what you know by taking and passing a Strayer Challenge Exam. It’s like taking the final exam without taking the course, and it’s only $20. Active, enrolled Strayer students who pass a Challenge Exam with a grade of 70% or better may have those credits transferred into their degree program as test credit toward completion of an approved Strayer course*. Meet with your admissions officer to see if a Challenge Exam can help you earn credit toward your Strayer degree.
- Choose Challenge Exams for select Strayer courses.
- Pay $20 for individual Strayer Challenge Exams.
- Pass 70% or more questions on any exam to earn credit toward an approved Strayer course.
- Only scores for active, enrolled Strayer students will be transmitted to the Office of the Registrar and may be applied as test credit upon review.
- Challenge Exams, CLEP scores and DSST exams are evaluated for credit toward approved Strayer courses that may be applied to diplomas and undergraduate degree programs.
- Credits earned through the Challenge Exam process will appear as “Test Credits” on the Strayer transcript.
- Strayer does not guarantee that test credits earned through Strayer Challenge Exams will be accepted by other schools as transfer credits.
*Evaluation of transcripts and academic experience is conducted by the Office of the Registrar in accordance with university policy. Successfully earned test credits shall only be applied to transcripts of active Strayer students enrolled in a degree or certificate program subject to university policy, including but not limited to, the Residency Requirement. Inactive students, students in re-enroll status, and non-Strayer students taking Strayer Challenge exams may not apply such exam credit toward an inactive or non-Strayer degree program. Inactive students, students in re-enroll status, and non-Strayer students may submit earned Challenge Exam test credits as well as Challenge Exam grades that were not awarded credit to other receiving institutions for transfer at the sole discretion of the receiving institution. Strayer University does not warrant or represent that earned Challenge Exam test credits or grades for Challenge Exams not awarded credit shall be accepted by other receiving institutions.

SUCH TEST CREDITS SHALL NOT APPEAR ON AN INACTIVE OR NON-STRAYER STUDENT’S TRANSCRIPT UNLESS APPLIED TO AN ACTIVE STRAYER DEGREE PROGRAM. AS SUCH, CREDITS EARNED AFTER BECOMING INACTIVE, ENTERING RE-ENROLL STATUS, OR AS A NON-STRAYER STUDENT SHALL NOT BE APPLIED TO OR APPEAR ON A STUDENT’S, FORMER STUDENT’S, OR NON-STUDENT’S TRANSCRIPT UNLESS AND UNTIL SUCH STUDENT, FORMER STUDENT, OR NON-STUDENT IS ACTIVELY ENROLLED IN A STRAYER DEGREE PROGRAM.
Strayer challenge exams
Exams are monitored remotely by ProctorU® through webcams and screen sharing, so you can complete yours wherever it’s most convenient. You can schedule exams seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Central Time. And you can take your exam from almost any computer with a reliable internet connection, webcam and microphone. Exam scoring and results
To pass the Challenge Exam, you’ll need a score of at least 70%. For active Strayer students enrolled in a degree program, exam results will be sent to the Office of the Registrar, which will evaluate the Challenge Exam results to determine if it can be applied as test credit toward an approved Strayer course. If the results are determined to warrant test credit, you will receive a P (pass) or F (fail) grade, and your test credit will post after review and approval by the Office of the Registrar after the exam date. For inactive students, students in re-enroll status, and non-Strayer students, exam results shall not be transmitted to the Office of the Registrar and shall not be applied to or appear on an inactive student’s, student in re-enroll status’, or non-Strayer student’s transcript. Inactive students, students in re-enroll status, and non-Strayer students will have to enroll in a degree program at Strayer or make arrangements with another receiving institution to be awarded test credit toward courses related to any Challenge Exams taken.

Challenge exam
Strayer University offers current, active, enrolled Strayer students the opportunity to obtain test credit for approved Strayer courses through its Challenge Exam program. Students are encouraged to meet with a coach or advisor to discuss credit options, which may include CLEP/DSST examinations among other options. Students must pass the undergraduate Challenge Exam by scoring at least 70% on the exam and are allowed only one retake. Scores for active Strayer students will be transmitted to the Office of the Registrar and may be applied as test credit toward an approved Strayer course. Evaluation of transcripts and academic experience is conducted by the Office of the Registrar in accordance with university policy, including but not limited to, the Residency Requirement. Approved Challenge Exam credits will appear as “Test Credits” on active and enrolled students’ transcripts. Challenge Exam credits do not fulfill residency requirements.
