Strayer University now joins the ranks of a select group of postsecondary institutions across the country to have been recognized by the National Security Agency’s Committee on National Security Systems. The CNSS has certified that Strayer’s information systems security curriculum has been thoroughly reviewed by the Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation Review Committee and determined that it meets national training standards for information systems security professionals and system administrators.

“The approval adds a new value to the education that the students in our information systems programs are receiving,” says Dr. Bill Dafnis, dean of the School of Information Systems and Technology. “It’s a great honor to know that Strayer University now joins a select group to have received this prestigious recognition.”

During the intensive review process, the CNSS affirmed that the University’s security curriculum, assignments, textbooks, labs, course guides and other supplemental materials used in the classroom, adhere to the national standards. As part of this review, the NSA committee also evaluated the security courses in Strayer’s online Blackboard learning management system.

“This prestigious approval elevates the University’s security programs, and shows employers that most students are learning material that has been approved by one of the U.S. government’s highly respected agencies,” Dr. Dafnis says. “We will use this approval as a solid foundation to help us continue to expand our offerings within the school.”

Strayer University is now one of about 200 postsecondary institutions with courses certified by NSA in accordance with CNSS requirements. With this approval, Strayer University is one step closer to meeting its goal of becoming recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence by the NSA and the Department of Homeland Security.
