What is the Strayer Skills Advantage program?
Students who participate in the Skills Advantage program:
- Experience a one-day virtual workplace simulation where you engage in various real-world exercises
- Are observed by a team of staff trained in behavioral observation, note-taking and objective evaluation
- Are evaluated on 12 workplace competencies
- Receive personalized feedback from an assessor highlighting the strengths and areas of opportunity for growth

Frequently asked questions
- You’re currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.
- You took a class last term, are taking one now or plan to take one next term.
- You have elective credits remaining.
- You’re in good standing and haven’t had any issues like a suspension or hold that would prevent you from being enrolled.
Note that students from Arkansas and New Jersey have specific elective requirements that may impact their eligibility.
The virtual assessment goes from 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Eastern Time. You should also plan to set aside about an hour for a feedback session with a Strayer Skills Advantage assessor, which will happen two days later.
The one-day virtual skills assessment costs $236. Keep in mind that the Skills Advantage Program fee is non-refundable and cannot be paid directly from financial aid.
You can earn up to 18 elective quarter credits toward a Strayer bachelor’s degree and up to 4.5 elective quarter credits toward a Strayer associate degree. The credits you earn by demonstrating skills during your virtual assessment are not guaranteed.
